1. Work on the Letter of Application [Cover Letter].
You know your due date.
2. Read your research articles, complete the summaries,
and make a list of ideas that come from the articles.
Use either the notecard method or the underline/highlight
method to identify ideas. Start putting together the ideas
(from the different sources) that go together. This will
eventually become your outline. As soon as you have a draft
of an outline, show it to me. You can email this to me if
you wish. BY WEDNESDAY, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST FIVE ARTICLES.
3. The Effective Writing Handout: Have completed pages 1-5,
right after Slang. Read textbook pages 278-282
"Avoid Personal Bias" and pages 253-258 "Editing For Conciseness"
before you attempt to complete pages 1-5 of the handout.
Type a list of four slang words or terms that you know and that
some other students in class may not know. [We all know Hoe.]
4. See the "Reference of Pronouns" page in the handout--the page
that comes AFTER page 6. Complete the exercise on the bottom part
of page 5.of the handout [There are seven sentences in the
exercise.] You may write the corrections on the handout itself.
5. Be thinking of a process that you can present beginning with
the next class period. I'll show you the format in class.
6. Begin working on your resume. Google "Resume." You will have
several web sites to visit, including TheOwl.
