1. Complete the Study Guide for chapter 11,
"Summarizing and Abstracting Information."
Question 8. gives you the instructions for completing
the summary exercise on page 5. Notice that you write
the uncrossed words at the bottom page 5 and write
the word count.
2. Complete the Study Guide for chapter 12,"Organizing
for Users."
3. You should have learned most of the terms on page
12 of the study guide.
4. We will have a practice test on chapters 1- 4.
5. Exam I is scheduled on Wednesday, 2/13.

Assignment DUE on Wednesday 1/30 or Thursday 1/31

1. Complete the Study Guide for chapter 12,
"Organizing for Users."
2. Learn the last four terms and definitions listed on
Page 12 of your Study Guide.
3. Complete the Summary Exercise #2 on page 6 of
the Study Guide. The instructions are written on the
top of page 6.
4. Study for Exam I, which is scheduled on Monday 2/11
or Tuesday 2/12.

Assignment DUE on Monday 1/28 or Tuesday 1/29

1. Learn the the first five terms listed on page 12
of the Study Guide. Use the flash card method.
2. Complete the Study Guide for chapter 11 "Summarizing
and Abstracting Information. Question 8. gives you the
instructions for completing the summary exercise on
page 5 of the Study Guide. Notice that after you cross
out non-essential information, you write the words
that remain uncrossed. Count the words and write the
number.
3. Study the Study Guides for the chapters that we
have already completed. We will have a practice test
for chapters 1-5 in class.

Wednesday night class 1/23

1. Prepare and bring to class the Final Copy of
your interview. Be sure that the word count fits
the assignment. These will be read to the class.
2. Complete the Study Guides for Chapter 3, Deliver-
ing the Essential Information; Chapter 4, Making a
Persuasive Case; and Chapter 5, Weighing the Ethical
Issues.

Wednesday 1/23 and Thursday 1/24

1. Prepare and bring to class the Final Copy of
your interview. Remember that these will be read
to the class by the authors.
2. Complete the Study Guide for Chapter 4, Making
a Persuasive Case, and Chapter 5, Weighing the
Ethical Issues.

Spring Semester:Monday 1/21 & Tuesday 1/22

1. Work on your interview and type a draft of
the interview. Look at your word count; be sure
that it fits the assignment. Edit carefully.
Bring the draft to class.
2. Complete the Study Guide for Chapter 2,
Preparing an Effective Technical Document and
Chapter 3, Delivering the Essential Information
