Wednesday night class, April 4

(1)Follow the same assignment as the day classes on April 2 and 3 EXCEPT find, underline, and correct the errors in ALL twenty-three sentences beginning on Page 8 of the blue handout.
(2) Bring at least five research articles and summaries on the topic that you have selected.

Day Classes Monday April 2 & Tuesday April 3

(1) On page 278, read starting with "Avoid an Overly Informal Tone" to page 285.
(2) On the bottom of Page 5 of the blue handout, write 10 current idioms or slang terms; do not use any that are listed on Page 5.
(3)Read the top of blue handout Page 6 "Editing for Clarity" and then read Page 7 "Reference of Pronouns." OMIT EXERCISE 1, TEXT PAGE 246. On the bottom of page 6, in the Exercises for Writing For Clarity,correct only sentences 2, 3, 4, 5, 7.
(4) On Page 8, correct the errors in at least the first fifteen sentences. These are the types of errors that we have covered in the first seven pages of this blue handout. Underline any errors in the sentence; then write a corrected sentence on the handout. These sentences are similar to the sentences that you will have on the test.
(5) Continue looking for research articles. You must bring at least five to our next class.

Day Classes: Assignment for 3/28 and 3/29

(1) Beginning on page 253, read Editing for Conciseness and TYPE Exercise 7, page 255.
(2) On page 4 of the blue handout, complete III Wordiness
(3) On page 5 of the blue handout, complete IV Redundancy
(4) read page 257, beginning with Delete Needless To Be Constructions, to page 258 and TYPE Exercise 10 on page 258 (You may type both exercise 7 and 10 on the same page).
(5) Hand in research article #4

Wednesday 6 PM class due on March 28

1) Read pages 1 and 2 and complete the exercise on Page 2 and the top half of page 3 of the new (blue) Study Guide on Effective Writing. You can write the exercise on the handout itself.
(2) Find, print , read, underline, and complete a Summary Sheet for two additional
articles on your research topic [by Wed you should have a total of three articles].
(3) Read pages 250-251 and TYPE Exercise 4 beginning on page 251.
(4) Read text book pages 118-125.
(5) The new Final Letter of Application is due today

Day classes: Asssignment for 3/26 and 3/27,

(1) Read pages 1 and 2 and complete the exercise on Page 2 of the new (blue) Study Guide on Effective Writing. You can write the exercise on the handout itself.
(2) Find, print , read, underline, and complete a Summary Sheet for Article #2 on your research topic.
(3) Read pages 250-251 and TYPE Exercise 4 beginning on page 251.
(4) Read text book pages 118-125.
(5) The new Final Copy of the Letter of Aplication is due today.
