1. Very carefully complete the "Hard Hat Memo"
exercise. Follow the steps exactly as they
are listed on the handout. The final copy of
the memo is due the first class period.
2. Read text page 280: "Avoid Sexist Language"
and "Avoid Offensive Usage of All Types."
Read page 281-282: "Guidelines for Nonsexist
Usage"
3. Read Page 3. in the blue handout: II. "Sexist
(Gender Bias) and Biased Language" and complete
the exercise at the bottom of page 3, which is
continued on page 4. Write your answers on the
blue handout.
4. Read the yellow handout on the research report.
You should select three or four topics for your
research report. We will go to the library to
receive training on online research.
